We join with the progressive masses of Africa and the world in remembering the late, great Kwame Nkrumah on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Kwame Nkrumah will forever be associated with the heroic struggle against colonialism, as he led Ghana to its independence in 1957. He was a hugely talented organiser and a deep thinker; indeed, he was one of the originators of Pan-African socialism.
So dangerous was he to imperialism that he was overthrown in a coup orchestrated by the CIA, while he was on a state visit to North Vietnam and China.
The masses of Africa continue to recognise him as one of their greatest sons. We join them in celebrating his life.
