CPGB-ML’s reply to the lies and slanders of the CPB

For quite some time, the CPGB-ML has attempted to be included in the annual International Conference of Communist and Workers’ Parties (ICCWP), based in Athens. Our attempts in this regard have drawn a blank from the working group of the ICCWP.

This year, in response to our request and acting on behalf of the working group of the ICCWP, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) asked the Communist Party of Britain (CPB) and the New Communist Party (NCP), as the ‘recognised’ parties in Britain, to report on the eligibility of the CPGB-ML for membership of the ICCWP. In response to this request, John Foster, the International Secretary of the CPB, wrote what claims to be a report on the CPGB-ML but is in fact a sly and scurrilous attack on the latter.

We have never been asked by the working group to submit any evidence in our defence; nor have we been officially sent a copy of the CPB’s ‘report’. Fortunately, we came to have possession of a copy of this report, and we have sent our observations on it to the working party. Hitherto we have received not even an acknowledgement.

In the circumstances, we have no option but to go public and expose the arbitrary and unjust modus operandi of both the working group and the CPB. In order that nobody accuse us of misrepresenting the CPB, we are publishing that organisation’s report along with our reply.

Read the CPB’s report and our reply.

  1. Greetings.I have just read your reply to the CPB,s attack on the CPGB-ML.I thought it was a great reply. The fight against revisionism is vital. An ideolgically strong party is much better than a numerically large one.The abandoning of the dictatorship of the prolitariat by Kruschevite revisionists was the begining of the end of soviet power.Just as the abandonment of the dictatorship of the prolateriat was the end of the CPGB.My father was a member of the CPGB in the 60,s but left when the revisionists gained control.he spoke of a visit to the UK by Kruschev who,in critising the Labour party said he would vote conservative if he were a resident of the UK,What about the CPGB! Kruschev was forced to retract and stated ”of course he would support the CPGB”.But the damage was done and the ideological weakness was revealed..Kruschev turning the CPSU into ”a party of the masses”weakened the working class base of the party and introduced petty bourgeoise ideology.I think of significance also was the loss of 24 million soviet citizens[6 million of them party members]during the war against nazism. This would have deprieved the CPSU of many experienced cadres.I would like for you to be sucssesful in your attempts to be included in the ICCWP.Best wishes for the future. From a comrade in Australia

  2. Thanks for your comments, comrade. I absolutely agree, the loss of 24 million Soviet citizens in WW2 – surely among them some of the best and most selfless of the new generation of Soviet communists – must have had a terrible impact.

  3. I think this is an important document for the world communist movement and hope it will be widely circulated. The struggle against revisionism is vital if we are ever to put workers struggle seriously on the agenda.
